Bouquins-Câlins

Short Film/Everyday life, Belgium 1996

"Tell me a story!" Take a book, offer it to a toddler and the magic happens: the baby takes hold of the book as if it were a toy with its own smell, its own volume, its own colors... The story is transformed into a moment of pleasure, a moment of tenderness, a new space in the relationship where we play with the image, with the story, where we discover the pleasure of words and language. This film aims to show, through a wide range of initiatives, from infant consultations to day nurseries, from homes to kindergartens, the taste and pleasure that little ones have for books. It inspires the desire to tell stories, and simply explains the longer-term benefits of introducing children to books.
