Reunited with his friends, Fox introduces them to Vixen, who has given up her initial reservations and agreed to be his mate. Once again the animals need water, and Kestrel leads them to a quarry. Whistler, a lone heron, takes her in. He rescues Toad from the mouth of a carp and decides to move with the others to White Deer Park. Sadly, shortly after leaving the quarry, one of the baby rabbits is shot.
